The Benefits of Walking

Walking with people other than mum, that is.

Mum is pretty much my whole world.  We’ve become quite an impressive team – me doing whatever the hell I want, and she figuring out how to make us ever-so-slightly socially acceptable.  We walk every day, twice a day, in the neighborhood and in the parks to get me as much experience as possible.  Mum keeps mentioning something about gaining confidence – and yeah, I could probably use more of that when out in the big, bad world.  My fears do keep me from enjoying some things – buildings, strangers, some dogs, oh hell lots of things – but according to mum I’ve gotten much better.  When I first arrived I was terrified of the park and didn’t realize that I could actually poop outdoors.  So yeah – progress.

Walking with another human, though, is still a new thing for me.  This time we went to Frick Park and did the Riverview Trail.  Lovely indeed, and I think I was pretty good considering there were lots of (mostly friendly) dogs and a ridiculous amount of those shorter humans running and screaming (are they called children or something?).

Mum must also have thought our venture a success as after we were done it was time to hit the drive-thru.  On tonight’s menu was a Jr. bacon cheeseburger from Wendy’s for me.  A big treat as I don’t get to eat this kind of stuff very often.  And the best way to eat it?  By stealing the bag and doing a victory tour through your yard, of course!

Love,

Otto Fizz
